According to data at the end of 2021, the leader of the Polish card acceptance market and at the same time the largest acquirer in Central and Eastern Europe processed transactions for 532.4 thousand payment terminals operating in 11 European countries. Despite a difficult situation on many foreign markets, over the last year eService increased their number by almost 37 thousand. Moreover, this result was achieved thanks to an organic growth, through the implementation of new offers and acquisition of customers - without acquisitions of smaller acquirers and their customers.
"Despite difficulties related to, among other things, the pandemic and global crisis in semiconductor availability, last year we settled transactions worth over PLN 271 billion. We set many new records in terms of the number and value of transactions operated by eService - more than 10 of them in December alone. We also noted a large increase in the number of orders for POS terminals and payment gateway services. The results were due to, among other things, new and extended contracts with big partners, including our biggest customer - Poczta Polska. In 2021, thanks to the trust of our customers, we once again strengthened our position as the leader of the Polish market for electronic transaction settlement," summed up Joanna Seklecka, President of the Management Board of eService Sp. z o.o.
Last year, eService processed nearly 3 billion payment transactions on POS terminals operating under private label and those operated on behalf of sister companies of EVO Payments group. More than half (53,5 percent) of the 532 thousand devices operated by eService operate on the Polish market and the remaining ones on 10 European markets, including the largest number in Germany (85 thousand). The company also supports a rapidly growing number of transactions through an online payment gateway and a range of modern services to facilitate e-commerce, m-commerce, as well as services for the HoReCa industry and many others. The increase in the number of operations is accompanied by an increase in employment and the development of eService's competencies within the EVO Payments group, where it serves as a HUB for IT, technology, management and product development. In the coming years, the company plans to further expand its reach by developing its offerings and expanding into additional markets.
Payment terminals provided and operated by eService are widely used in many areas of commerce and services. They can be found in stores of large and small retail chains, postal and banking facilities, in hotels, restaurants and mobile food outlets, at petrol stations, as well as in transportation (buses, trains, and cabs). eService is also one of the most active members of the Cashless Poland Program, providing an easy way to start accepting cashless payments to tens of thousands of entrepreneurs, offices and state and local government institutions.
The company places a strong emphasis on sustainability, supporting solutions such as electronic transaction confirmation and e-receipt. At the same time, it dynamically develops payment tools for e-commerce, as well as self-service and omnichannel solutions. In cooperation with leading software providers, it creates modern, integrated payment solutions and ready-made modules that ensure convenient electronic payments for the customers of e-stores. eService is also the first and only Polish acquirer with a certificate of compliance with the PCI P2PE standard, which guarantees the highest global level of security of transactions.
