WARSAW — March 18, 2025 — eService, a joint venture between Global Payments (NYSE: GPN) and PKO Bank Polski, announced today that it now enables merchants in Poland to seamlessly and securely accept in-person contactless payments with Tap to Pay on iPhone through its eService tom app.
Tap to Pay on iPhone allows merchants of all sizes to accept all forms of contactless payments, including contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets, using only an iPhone and the eService tom iOS app — no additional hardware or payment terminal needed.
With Tap to Pay on iPhone at checkout, the merchant will simply prompt the customer to hold their contactless payment method near the merchant’s iPhone, and the payment will be securely completed using NFC technology. Tap to Pay on iPhone also supports PIN entry, which includes accessibility options.
Apple’s Tap to Pay on iPhone technology uses the built-in features of iPhone to keep the business and customer data private and secure. When a payment is processed, Apple doesn’t store card numbers or transaction information on Apple servers.
Using Tap to Pay on iPhone, eService empowers merchants to run and grow their businesses more effectively and efficiently. Merchants now have the flexibility to choose what payment method they want to offer to their clients, with Tap to Pay on iPhone giving them the ability to accept contactless payments on iPhone anywhere in store or on the go. Tap to Pay on iPhone is especially helpful for taxi drivers, smaller fast food restaurants, tradesmen, and other mobile merchants and businesses.
“Poland is among the world's leading countries in terms of the use of contactless payments,” said Joanna Seklecka, CEO of eService. “They account for more than 97 percent of all transactions made in Poland with payment cards and their equivalents. This shows how important it is to provide solutions that enable Polish entrepreneurs to offer the forms of payment that their customers want to use. We understand this, which is why we were the first to introduce contactless payments in our market and have been investing in this area ever since.”
Tap to Pay on iPhone enables eService customers with an iPhone to use a contactless payment acceptance solution that is easy to set up and use. Through the eService tom app, merchants can enable Tap to Pay on iPhone on an iPhone XS or later that is running the latest version of iOS. By using eService for payment acceptances services, merchants can simply download the eService tom app from the Apple App Store to start accepting contactless payments anywhere and anytime within minutes.
